The Department of Psychology in the College of Science at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are seeking candidates who investigate the complex interplay between cognition, emotion, and behavior and factors such as stress, depression, and/or anxiety to evaluate their bidirectional impact on brain or physical health. Candidates with expertise in Cognitive Psychology (e.g., perception, attention, memory, problem solving, reasoning, decision making, or language) are especially encouraged to apply. However, we welcome applications from all candidates engaged in research aimed at developing interventions that can enhance cognitive, symptomatic, and/or functional wellness in diverse populations, such as older adults or individuals grappling with chronic health conditions, trauma survivors, students, or underrepresented groups. UTA is establishing a Clinical Imaging Research Center that will house a 3 Tesla MRI dedicated to research. The university also plans to launch the Arlington Study of Healthy Aging, an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at understanding the mechanisms of age-related functional decline. Competitive applications that align with these strategic initiatives will be given special consideration.
