As a critical part of Moderna's R&D and Portfolio and Program Management (PPM) function, the Director of Portfolio Operations plays a key role in supporting and optimizing portfolio delivery across speed, quality, and cost dimensions. This role will enable a trusted single source of truth for Moderna's program and clinical trial portfolio to inform decisionmaking at all levels. The Director will collaborate closely with PPM leadership, Research & Development, Product Development, Finance, HR, and other enterprise functions to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
Here's What You'll Do:
Develop and execute a strategic vision and roadmap for Portfolio Operations that enables effective portfolio delivery and informed decisionmaking across studies and programs.
Standardize crossfunctional planning processes to establish a single source of truth for all programs, creating transparency and enabling efficient reporting and analytics.
Partner with R&D, Product Development, and Digital (IT) functions to ensure that portfolio and programlevel business requirements are translated into effective technical solutions.
Manage and maintain a portfolio governance framework that empowers decisionmaking at appropriate levels, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Collaborate with R&D Finance and IT to develop realtime financial forecasting tools to guide portfolio decisions and support negotiations with key external stakeholders such as CROs and investigator sites.
Implement a resource forecasting framework that aligns with Moderna's R&D portfolio strategy, optimizing resource allocation to meet strategic needs.
Build strong partnerships with R&D Strategy, Finance, and other enterprise functions to align portfolio operations with Moderna's longrange planning and strategic business goals.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing Portfolio Operations capabilities to support Moderna's evolving needs.
Here's What You'll Need:
Master's degree in a scientific discipline with 8+ years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, with leadership experience in portfolio or program management.
Strong expertise in portfolio operations, governance, resource and financial forecasting, and process optimization.
Proven track record in managing studies, programs, and portfolios from preclinical through clinical stages.
Analytical acumen with a deep understanding of clinical development processes and business dynamics.
Demonstrated experience in leading crossfunctional teams to drive portfolio performance and organizational goals.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
