Overview

We are seeking a full-time Aviation Sales Manager 1 - Aircraft Owners in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for being a passionate sales professional directly engaging with prospective and existing end-customers to grow Garmin sales and ensure their success with our products and services, satisfaction, and long-term loyalty to Garmin and owns the voice of the customer to adjust Garmin business, aftermarket dealer and/or OEM practices as well as improve existing and develop new products and services.

Essential Functions


  • Serve as expert product champion and serve customers from a similar operational perspective

  • Identify, solicit, and cultivate sales, upsell opportunities with aircraft owners/operators, and be accountable for achieving established sales revenue/growth goals

  • Lead creation of well-organized and informative Garmin product presentations, seminar presentations, business proposals, and webinars and plan, develop, and execute presentations at aircraft owner events, trade shows, sales meetings, and other customer events to drive sales

  • Represent Garmin in an enthusiastic/professional manner at industry and professional meetings and during interactions with media, government and regulatory officials

  • Assist in collecting, compiling and presenting competitive intelligence internally

  • Survey product markets to determine product revenue potential or needs for new products and the adoption of new product offerings

  • Drive customer insights into the business by connecting appropriate teams with customer feedback as well as guiding feature and make/model priority roadmaps

  • Be a passionate ambassador of all customers, current and new, and enthusiastically help customers with their needs and concerns quickly

  • Provide timely, diligent and professional follow-up to customers and internal associates, regardless of travel

  • Work effectively with colleagues in multiple disciplines across the organization to execute sales initiatives, sales growth, and solve customer issues

  • Quickly identify, gain internal consensus/alignment and create plans to respond to challenging customer situations that limit sales potential for our products/services

  • Maintain expert understanding of product benefits, model specific upgrade programs, operational capabilities and limitations as an individual product, as installed in a specific configuration/aircraft model and as a system

  • Identify and partner with select strategic communities to find opportunities to meet owner group goals, grow Garmin sales and move forward by negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement

  • Manage/represent Garmin at strategically important aircraft-specific, owner-flown community-based events, including identification of events, decision to attend, sales strategy, logistics for attendance, staffing, vision/plan for physical presence, agenda development, static aircraft display, sponsorship, influencer identification/engagement and tailored presentation content

  • Constantly evaluate where the aircraft ownership conversations are happening (digitally, social media, fly-in) globally and is actively engaged in sales growth

  • Use good social judgement to engage with customers and selected aircraft owner groups with insightful Garmin content proactively with new Garmin updates and upgrade programs, as well as reactively in existing conversations

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish, manage, communicate and elevate dealer performance of the end-customer delivery experience

  • Proactively organize and host aircraft owner group events at Garmin facilities with manufacturing tours, hands-on training, and new product sales presentations

  • Summarize issue/feature requests, track progress towards implementation and routinely report to leadership

  • Travel across North America is expected, with occasional travel outside this region as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Must possess a Pilot's License and be an active pilot flying behind current production Garmin avionics

  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience, performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this role

  • Must possess a demonstrated commitment and passion for achieving customer satisfaction

  • Minimum 3 years experience in aviation industry; demonstrated knowledge of avionics markets and complex aircraft systems

  • Demonstrated proficient business-to-business analytical, financial, strategic thinking and public relations skills, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

  • A proven track record reactively or proactively identifying customer needs and creating/executing plans to address them

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and effective presentation skills/public speaking ability in front of large groups

  • Must be organized, detail/team oriented, self-motivated, accurate and possess the ability to work quickly with excellent project management skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of management and associates

  • Motivated, positive, solution-oriented thinking sales professional, team driven with excellent communication skills and responsive to all customers, both external and internal

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expert Garmin product knowledge, including operational knowledge and troubleshooting aptitude

  • Familiarity with avionics systems and installations

  • Advanced pilot certificates and ratings such as Commercial, Instrument, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI or CFI-I), Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Multi-engine rating, owner-flown jet type rating, ex. CE525
