Essential Functions:
Independently design and perform experiments
Maintain accurate lab documentation of experiments
Study and characterize histone posttranslational modifications
Computational protein design of histone reader proteins
Design, develop, and implement computational programs to assist with performance of these activities
Train and mentor undergraduates
Assist in preparation of proposals and manuscripts
Other Functions:
Mentor other postdocs, graduate students, rotation students, and undergraduates on their research projects

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
PhD
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience developing and implementing deep learning models and algorithms for protein design
Experience working with protein structures and knowledge of bioinformatics and protein structure modeling
Experience in python scripting
Experience with Rosetta, AlphaFold, and molecular dynamics simulations
Team working and communication skills
Excellent project and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills
Physical Requirements:
Computer data input required
Ability to use computing resources and perform bench-laboratory experiments
Accountabilities:
Be available in the lab from 10 am to 4 pm on workdays. There are no specific lab hours, but I find that people learn best when they are working together.
Be prepared to work hard, fail occasionally (hopefully not too often), think creatively, and build-design-test-learn-repeat.
We are a brand new lab. We have big ideas and lots of exciting opportunities. Some days will probably be harder than others. The work we do in the first years will set the tone for subsequent years so let's get started on the best possible foot.
Work carefully, don't rush, but also work efficiently and strategically.
Attend 1:1 meetings, group meetings, and subgroup meetings. Engage and participate regularly.
