HAYS are hiring for a local DC based commercial general contractor who are at an exciting stage of their development by hiring a Safety Manager into their organization. This position will empower a CSP the opportunity to work with senior leadership on developing a robust Safety program whilst having project responsibilities as the division and company continues to grow.
Core Responsibilities:
Work with senior leadership on strategizing and building a robust construction safety program for their general contracting division.
Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety within a construction general contractor.
Monitor safety compliance, and report safety issues and progress to superiors.
Must identify potential hazards and recommend solutions and ways to prevent them from reoccurring.
Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence
Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures and contract documents.
Develop a log of safety inspection activities and reporting systems.
What you will need to succeed:
10+ years of experience in managing construction safety programs on commercial or federal government construction projects.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required.
Certified OSHA 30 required.
USACE Quality Management for Contractors would be preferred.
Demonstratable experience in building a safety program for a construction general contractor.
Comfortable in being on-site at the DC office 5 days a week. This role will include limited travel throughout the DC, MD and VA area.

Base salary in the range of $100K - $135K
Bonus plan in the range of $15K - $40K based on performance.
