Carlisle Construction Materials is looking for skilled and experienced scientists in Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants to join our Research and Innovation team. Scientists on this team are responsible for developing new adhesives, sealants, and coatings for the commercial roofing sector. Development work will be particularly emphasized in water-based chemistry, pressure-sensitive adhesive and bio-based and sustainable solutions. This position will research latest technologies using laboratory, pilot-scale, and plant-scale processing equipment to create new products and formulations.
The research scientist will work closely with value chain partners as well as commercial and technical leadership to support current business and influence technology development to enable the next generation of adhesives and coatings. The role includes but is not limited to innovating new products and processes, supporting existing products and processes, and optimizing operational and installation costs. This position will operate under the general guidance of the ACW R&D Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Leading research and development in the areas of water-based and/or pressure-sensitive adhesives, coatings and sealants.
* Leading multiple innovation and new product development projects in support of the commercial roofing business segment
* Utilizing advance material characterization techniques to establish structure property relationships of polymer materials.
* Publish technical reports, conduct technical presentations, and champion safety.
* Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or related discipline with 10+ years of formulating and product development experience
* Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or related discipline with 3+ years of formulating and product development experience
* Experience with polymer synthesis, material mixing and processing equipment.
* Experience in polymer and product characterization through rheology and other analytical techniques
* Training or experience on the design of experiments, especially as applied to development of chemical formulations.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
