The School University Research Network (SURN) serves as an outreach unit for the School of Education and is dedicated to serving the local, state, and national education community in developing instructional leadership in K-12 schools and other agency settings. Partnerships with educational agencies to leverage funding and opportunities are critical to the research and professional development offerings.
This position primarily supports the work of School-University Research Network (SURN) and the Center for Gifted Education (CFGE) in the William & Mary School of Education.
SURN serves as an outreach unit for the School of Education and is dedicated to serving the local, state, and national education community in developing instructional leadership in K-12 schools and other agency settings. The Center for Gifted Education is a research and development center providing services to students, educators, policy makers, graduate students, researchers, and parents in support of the needs of gifted and talented individuals.
Reporting to the Executive Director of SURN, the Program & Events Coordinator will support the work of the centers in three key areas: event coordination & facilitation, marketing & communication, and executive level administrative support.
* This position is a full-time position.
* Occasional evening work and travel required to support training events.
* This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

* Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience* Demonstrated skill in supporting the logistical planning of meetings, training sessions, conferences, and programs
* Knowledge of event planning, public relations, and marketing principles and practices
* Ability to approach and prioritize concurrent projects with high levels of organization and with attention to detail
* Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications
* Working knowledge of general office procedures, practices, and technology in a diverse workplace
* Knowledge of web-editing and social media
* Ability to learn computer programs and online applications quickly (e.g., online event registration system)
* Ability to troubleshoot technology issues
* Demonstrated proficiency with office equipment (computers, copiers, printers, etc.)
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and provide high level administrative support
* Evidence of clear, cogent writing
* Experience in K-12 or higher education setting
* Experience with Cascade, specialized graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Illustrator), BuyWM, America to Go, TouchNet, and/or specialized survey software (Qualtrics)
* Experience with website design and management
* Experience managing social media accounts
* Experience creating posters, flyers, and media to advertise events
Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)

Up to $57,000, commensurate with experience
All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
