Your new role:


HAYS are exclusively partnering with a Commercial General Contractor based in Northern Virginia/DC who are looking to hire a Vice President of Operations. This is a newly created business opportunity which will bolster the growth of the company, and you will be provided the freedom to be creative as the ownership has exciting plans to grow the company in the coming years. About the company and projects:


  • 50+ years in operation, this general contractor operate solely in the Washington DC market delivering commercial construction projects for private and public clients.

  • Circa $60M in revenue, with a strong pipeline of work for 2025 and positive signs of further growth to take them north of $100M

  • Ownership is looking for a Vice President of Operations to join the organization in a newly created position.

  • This VP will be operationally focused, providing support to the leaders of the preconstruction and project management departments.

  • You will also be incorporated into all executive strategy discussions surrounding business development and client pursuits, company vision, P&L analysis and forecast, hiring and personnel management.

What you will need to succeed:


  • 12+ years of Washington DC, commercial construction projects, working for a general contractor. Candidates from a consulting, architect or development background will not be considered.

  • Diverse commercial construction project experience required, highly preferred if you have new construction and interior experience.

  • Construction experience in DC is required, out of state candidates will not be considered at this present time.

  • Ability to get 'hands on' in a VP position, this is a small but growing team and the need to multi-task is required.

  • Proven leader that has managed a team of up to 10+ currently or previously and currently in a Director, Executive or VP role.



Compensation and Benefits:


  • Base salary in the range of $200k - $250k, depending on experience and skill level.

  • Annual bonus
    based on company and team performance.
