Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Communications professional to serve as a speechwriter and executive communicator for The Cigna Group's Chief Executive Officer. You will serve as a speechwriter for external and internal events, spanning stakeholder audiences - clients, customers, investors, and employees. Your responsibilities will include providing strategic communications counsel, defining key messages that support our goals, building a strategy for executive speaking opportunities, and developing compelling content that resonates with stakeholders across modalities and channels.

Key Responsibilities


  • Developing and writing executive speeches from inception to finished product.

  • Defining ways for the CEO to tell and communicate the Cigna story most effectively.

  • Scale the voice of the CEO to extend further - to both internal and external audiences.

  • Partnering on the development and updating of the executive communications strategy.

  • Provide strategic counsel to communications leadership on C-suite-level engagement.

  • Research data, proof points and anecdotes to include in materials.

  • Commit to ensuring that all communications are error-free, accurate, appropriately vetted and consistent with company values.

  • Ensure consistent messaging in all communications vehicles, using the full spectrum of solutions including in-person, electronic, print, and video.

  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across the enterprise; serve as a trusted advisor.

Qualifications


  • 10-12+ minimum years of experience in a senior-level executive communications position.

  • Strong experience in a healthcare environment, such as a corporation, healthcare organization, or agency focused on healthcare clients preferred.

  • Proven writing skills with specific focus on executive communications content is a must: speech writing, executive blog posts, video content, departmental emails, presentations, messaging etc.

  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work with a high level of independence as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated executive presence; ability to provide coaching, new ideas, sensitive feedback and real-world lessons learned to leaders at all levels.

  • High ethical standards; able to manage very confidential information and projects.

  • Track record of ensuring all materials are consistent with a company's brand and culture.

  • Strategic and analytical thinker, with superior problem-solving skills and the ability to look into the details while keeping in mind the strategy in place.

  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external parties.

  • Well-rounded communications background, including external, internal and customer communications; executive visibility and thought leadership; issues management and social/digital communications.

  • Willingness to travel, as needed, and in support of business needs.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related discipline.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
