About the role
Plenty is looking for a Shipping and Receiving Associate to support our Chester, VA location. As a Shipping and Receiving Associate, you will be responsible for the receiving, organization, and logistic support for our Farm Operations team.
What you'll do
Pull orders, load/unload material and secure the load on vehicles
Review special instructions; bill of lading on trucks match material ordered
Maintain communication with vendors and operational staff to ensure efficient outgoing mail and shipping as well as incoming deliveries
Maintain a working knowledge of and adhere to company policies and procedures
Communicate daily shipments
Collaborate with external vendors to schedule trucks and shipping events
Maintain a working knowledge of and adhere to company policies and procedures
Inform supervisor of your whereabouts, attendance, activities, problems identified and potential problems
Keep an organized and safe workspace
Support the farm team as needed for Crop Care activities on scissor lifts and QA activities in Cold Spaces
Keep accurate records via WMS and internal systems
Escalate issues with cross collaborative partners that need resolution
Material prep for daily harvesting activities
Other duties as assigned
Schedules will be reviewed periodically and are subject to change based on business needs
What you'll bring to the table
2+ years of experience working in a customer fulfillment capacity, experience with perishable items a plus
1+ years of experience working in shipping and receiving environments
Experience using forklifts, pallet jacks and bobtail trucks and scissor lifts is a plus
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to tackle problems with creative solutions
Able to work with new computer systems and technology with ease. (RF Scanners and iPads used for this position)
International shipping experience is a plus
Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet
Ability to push and pull up to 100 pounds
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Ability to work occasional overtime and on weekends as needed
Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks at once
Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus, not required
