Job Summary



The Associate Director of Field Education is responsible for coordinating, maintaining the quality of, and sustaining the student field internship process. Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and field instructors in field-related matters; supervise and provide consultation to core and concentration field liaisons to ensure clear communication between the school, the student, and field sites; and provide consultation to students, field instructors, and liaisons for field-related issues. The position also involves prospecting, developing, and maintaining new field education sites. The Associate Director manages the field matching first-year first-year students, and second-year field selection process. The Associate Director designs and teaches field instructor training programs along with the Director. The Associate Director collaborates with the Field Director and other staff in setting policies and procedures for the Field Education Department.



Responsibilities



  • Coordinate and manage quality field placement processes for masters-level social work students.


  • Over-site and consultation with field liaisons and instructors.


  • Professional development and training.


  • Collaboration to set procedures and develop departmental documentation.


  • Attend administrative committee meetings, field events, and staff meetings.


  • Designs and implements education outreach programs and community relations strategies.


  • Coordinates with national, state, and local organizations. May represent Field Director when designated.


  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external University issues to improve products or services.


  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.


  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.


  • Demonstrates teaching skills and an understanding of the role of fieldwork in social work education.


  • Engage diverse populations of students, field instructors, and faculty, communicating an understanding of the range of micro, meso, and macro-level social work practice.


  • Evaluate and document the performance of programs, making or recommending improvements when appropriate.


  • Prepares program communications, including creating and coordinating dissemination of program materials.


  • Performs other related work as needed.





Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:



  • Master's degree in social work, A.M. or MSW. Licensed social worker.






Experience:




  • Minimum five years of relevant experience. Experience with Microsoft Access, Outlook, and Excel programs.


  • Background in clinical social work practice, field instruction, and management.


  • Prior supervisory experience.

Work Conditions



  • Attendance to field sites around the city requires theability to ambulate to various sites in and around the city.
