Department Summary
The Department of Mathematics has 25 tenure system faculty, 18 professional faculty, 50-60 graduate students, and about 150 majors. Our graduate degree offerings include a Ph.D. in Mathematics and M.S. degrees, as well as Math Education options. Position Overview
The UNT Mathematics Department invites applications for a full-time lecturer position starting in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 4 courses/sections per semester during the academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to focus on the instruction of undergraduate mathematics courses, including but not limited to Financial Mathematics. They will also be responsible for updating the curriculum of the Actuarial Science Certificate. An offer of employment for this position will be made depending upon available funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have (or expect to have by August 2025) a graduate degree in mathematics or a closely related field, including at least 18 semester graduate credit hours in coursework taught under a MATH or STAT prefix. Candidates must have experience teaching financial mathematics at the university level (which includes teaching, working as TA, or conducting seminars) or applying financial mathematics in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following qualifications:
· Curriculum-design experience
· Experience working in the actuarial science industries
· Previous or current involvement with campus risk-management organizations
· Experience supporting the internship/career placement of students
· Corporate-networking experience
