Essential Functions:
Oversee all aspects of the Student Union Programming Board; including training, transition, advising, event coordination and assessment
Work with Student Union to create goals, learning outcomes and assessment plans that are in line with the Campus Life Strategic Directions and mission and vision of the Office of Student Engagement
Support major Student Union events and programs including Major Concerts, Homecoming, aWake All Night, Springfest, Lighting of the Quad and Senior Sendoff.
Coordinate the planning of Student Engagement events during New Deac Week
Co-Chair the Wake the Forest (first six weeks) Committee on behalf of Student Engagement
Supervise the Graduate Advisor for Student Activities
Collaborate with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) identity centers on ensuring Student Engagement programming representation in celebrating minoritized student populations
Oversee and audit the Student Union budget and all Student Activities Fee requests for Student Union programming
Attend National Association for Campus Activities regional/national conferences with student delegates
Oversee Student Union website, weekly electronic newsletter and social media platforms
Develop strong relationships and collaborations with other student organizations, University departments, and the Winston-Salem community
Interpret University policies and procedures for Student Union executive board and directors
Maintain an archive of past Student Union events including but not limited to documents, contracts, and photos for university use
Plan and execute August retreat to assist in training the new Board of Directors
Other Functions:
Serve on a variety of committees within Dean of Students/Student Engagement, the Division of Campus Life and the University community
Participate in all departmental professional activities
Required Skills and Abilities:
Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or similar field with two years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent interpersonal skills and student focus with the ability to operate in a collaborative and professional manner with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse university community
Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner
Exceptional project management skills to include the ability to plan ahead, prioritize, organize and lead multiple concurrent initiatives; seeing project to completion
Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures established within the University, the Division of Campus Life and the Office of Student Engagement
Knowledge of student learning and operational assessment processes and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and proactively problem-solve
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed and appropriate.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and a professional commitment to student development and effective higher education administration practices.
Accountabilities:
This position reports to the Director of Student Organizations and Programs.
Works with minimal supervision.
