The Division of Accounting, Finance, MIS, and Economics in the
College of Business
at Governors State University is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics beginning in August 2025.The successful candidate will be academically qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Economics with a preference for candidates with teaching experience or expertise in Microeconomics, Managerial Economics/Industrial Organization, and quantitative analysis for economics, business, and accounting students. Other classes may be assigned based on background and experience.We seek candidates with exceptional teaching skills, a strong interest in advising non-traditional and diverse student populations, and the ability or desire to teach high-quality remote or online courses. Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, an interest in curriculum development, and either evidence of or the potential for distinguished scholarship aligned with the mission of the college and AACSB standards for Scholarly Academic faculty. Additionally, candidates should show evidence of or potential for meaningful professional and university service.

  • Effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels (MBA) as well as providing service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.

  • Research and scholarship that meets AACSB standards is expected

  • Typical teaching load is 21 credit hours in an academic year.





Required and Preferred Qualifications


Minimum QualificationsPhD in Economics earned by August 2025, A.B.D. candidates in the final stages of completion will be considered.
Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness.
Interest in developing and teaching online courses.
Demonstrated potential for research, consistent with the mission of the college.
Ability to write and publish in academic journals.
Applicant must meet AACSB standards for scholarship as "Scholarly Academic (SA)."Preferred QualificationsPhD in Economics.
Teaching experience or expertise in Microeconomics, Managerial Economics/Industrial Organization, and quantitative analysis.
Experience teaching online courses.
Professional experience.
Knowledge of AACSB accreditation requirements.Supplemental Information
