Intensive English Adjunct Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5 credit classClassification: Adjunct Faculty Responsible for teaching Intensive English (IE) beginning in Winter 2024. Responsible for teaching various courses to international students registered in college-level Intensive English (IE) at Olympic College in areas, which may include several of the following: reading, writing, grammar usage, vocabulary, speaking and listening, pronunciation, American culture, or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) preparation.
Essential Functions
May be responsible for teaching course(s) IE 15 - IE 102 in accordance with college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines;
Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading;
Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested;
Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required;
Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff;
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in TESOL, ESOL, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Basic level computer competency
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching English to non-native English-speaking students
Experience in the development of intensive English curricula and course content
Knowledge of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Guidelines
Knowledge of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam

Terms of Employment
Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.
This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Applying does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered.Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire, Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible.
