Job Description:

Purpose: We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated software developer to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Engineering. You will oversee and maintain a variety of engineering and other software applications spanning a variety of programming languages, technologies and techniques. You will eventually be solely responsible for over 40 applications housed in-house on our network and in a web environment.

An established Manufacturing/Engineering company in Dublin, Ohio has an immediate opening for a Web/LAN developer to be part of a team creating and maintaining both LAN software for in-house use and web-based software in a cloud environment. The selected candidate will: Understand business requirements, issues and data challenges; Possess and be able to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills, strong programming and debugging skills; Possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent education and experience; Possess and demonstrate problem-solving skills and critical thinking techniques; Possess the ability to work with the current software manager to understand, maintain and debug current applications and develop new applications.

Software developers create, maintain, and improve software to meet user needs in the following areas:

  • Analyze needs: Understand the needs of users or clients to help design the software.
  • Design and develop: Create the software, including the application or system's design, database implementation and design and how the software and database work together.
  • Develop separate object-oriented elements of software that work well in the program as a whole.
  • Program: Write code using engineering and technological principles.
  • Test and maintain: Ensure the software functions properly, debug and make changes as needed
  • Document: Create documentation for future reference and maintenance.
  • Collaborate: Work with engineers, managers and users to define, implement and enhance solutions.
  • Participate in the development lifecycle: Take part in the entire software development process, including analysis, design, testing, debugging, and delivery.
  • Revisit the development process to fix issues, upgrade requirements, update codes or address client or consumer concerns.
  • multitasking, prioritizing, and managing time efficiently.
  • Communicating timelines, benchmarks and milestones.

This position requires experience in the following areas: VB.NET utilizing visual studio, ASP.NET web development; LAN application development utilizing WinForms; SQL/MySQL query, schema and table creation and maintenance; JavaScript development, a Working knowledge of AJAX, IIS and MySQL is a plus. This is a full-time salaried position with an excellent benefit package.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, or equivalent related experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in:
    1. Developing applications in a business environment.
    2. Developing web applications utilizing ASP.NET, JavaScript and HTML.
    3. Developing LAN applications utilizing VB.NET and WinForms.
    4. Maintaining a MySQL database, creating schemas, tables and writing scripts and queries.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with PDFSharp and Migradoc is a plus.
  • Experience with AJAX tools is a plus.
  • Experience with SMTP is a plus.
