Job title: Director of Data Architecture




Job Summary: McKesson's Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) Decision Intelligence (DI) team is looking for a Director of Data Architecture to support strategic data initiatives. DI team focuses on facilitating data driven change and creating business value through data and advanced analytics. This is a pivotal leadership position within PSaS's Data Architecture and Engineering service and will be responsible for developing and executing our data architecture strategy. This role demands a profound expertise in data architecture to analyze, design, and implement complex systems ensuring robust, scalable solutions that support our business goals.



Roles & Responsibilities:



This role expects a candidate with technical leadership background and strong experience in designing the Data model, data products



Data Architecture Leadership:



  • Spearhead the strategic development and continuous refinement of data architecture frameworks, leading the design and implementation efforts to ensure robust, scalable, and integrated data environments across the organization


  • Leverage tools and resources to plan, evaluate and execute strategic initiatives by mapping relational entities to use cases or business requirements and assisting in the development of data products



Advanced Data System Design:



  • Architect complex data systems that support scalable integration and optimal functioning of business-critical applications. Employ sophisticated design principles and tools to model data flows and structures that enhance data accessibility and utility


  • Manage creation of data design deliverables including data models, data diagrams, data flows and corresponding data dictionary documentation





Innovation in Data Solutions:



  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in data architecture and engineering.


  • Develop innovative solutions that leverage machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies to transform data handling and analytics.





Technical Team Leadership: Build and mentor a team of data architects and engineers by providing expert guidance and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Develop talent through coaching and by creating opportunities for professional growth.



Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that data architectures and strategies comprehensively meet business needs. Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable technical strategies and solutions.



Governance and Standards Development: Define and implement data governance practices and standards to ensure data integrity and compliance across all data systems and platforms. Lead the evaluation and selection of data management technologies to support data security, quality, and efficiency.



Problem Solving and Strategic Input: Tackle complex data-related problems with strategic solutions that contribute to long-term business success. Provide thought leadership in developing strategies that leverage data assets to drive business innovation and competitive advantage.



Key Requirements:






  • Proven Expertise: 12+ years of experience in data architecture, with a solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and modern data frameworks (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake, Azure).



  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams, fostering an environment of accountability and innovation.



  • Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop strategies that align with long-term objectives.



  • Problem Solving: Innovative and creative problem-solving skills capable of handling complex challenges.



  • Experience: A career history that shows a trajectory of growth to high-level roles through significant contributions to business needs and technical innovations.



  • Advanced Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S, now or in the future, without the support from McKesson.




Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position



$156,200 - $260,400
