Senior Claims Manager
Job Overview:
The Senior Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the claims management process across the organization. This role includes managing complex claims, leading a team of claims specialists, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in claims handling, risk mitigation, and process improvement. They will play a pivotal role in minimizing losses, enhancing the customer experience, and protecting the organization's financial interests. This role holds $49,999.99 in reserve and payment authority on valid, recoverable claims.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ability to lead and manage the full life cycle of complex or high-value, high-profile claims, including litigation and settlement negotiations.
• Supervise, coach and mentor a team of claims specialists and adjusters providing guidance and training to enhance team performance and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with claims.
• Identify trends in claims data to recommend improvements in safety, procedures, and operational protocols and submit accurate and detailed reports to senior management recommendations.
• Monitor the financial performance of the claims department, including setting budgets, tracking expenses, and analyzing loss trends. Recommend actions to reduce costs associated with claims while maintaining a high standard of service.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and company standards regarding claims handling. Stay updated on changing laws and industry regulations.
• Manage relationships with third-party administrators, insurers, attorneys, and other external partners. Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and manage vendor performance to meet organizational standards and objectives.
• Oversee litigation related to claims and work closely with legal teams to ensure favorable outcomes. Negotiate settlements in complex cases while balancing risk, cost, and business objectives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as operations, finance, and customer service to resolve claims efficiently and protect the company's reputation. Address escalated issues with professionalism and sensitivity.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in claims management
• 3+ years in a leadership role
• Experience in transportation, logistics, or insurance industries is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), Certified or Advanced Claims Professional (CCP/ACP) or similar designations are highly desirable.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of claims handling practices and regulations.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex claims and litigation.
• Proficient in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Adjuster License Required and/or expected to be attained within the first year in the role.
• AL, GL, Cargo, Excess and Specialty Experience Preferred
