This position provides field engineering expertise relating to the installation, maintenance, design, integration, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of AEM environmental monitoring systems, integrated solutions, networks, protocols, and sensors.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide technical input on integrated solutions, network design and field engineering projects.
Has primary responsibility to perform installation, maintenance, validation, testing and troubleshooting of system solutions in the field.
Integrate new sensors and telemetry into existing systems.
Modify existing systems to correct errors or to improve its performance.
Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems, obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
Design, develop and modify systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
Determine system performance standards.
Aid in the design and construction of custom configurations appropriate for unique hydrologic/geomorphic site limitations.
Program data loggers with customer specific requirements and develop data logger code to communicate with various sensor inputs.
Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions and resolve to root cause.
Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
Understand emerging technologies related to customer needs.
Coordinate with the project management team to ensure project objectives are met.
Apply data integrity standards to ensure that timely entry, accuracy, and consistency of data is used in any system, or digital tool that stores, processes, or retrieves data.
Ensure that all project documentation is consistently maintained to reflect accurate project status.
Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, provide equipment and system recommendations, and ensure needs and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure defined standard operating practices and procedures are implemented and followed.
Assist with planning and travel scheduling for team personnel as required.
Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity under close supervision.
Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity with some latitude for independent judgement.
Create reports for individual inspection rounds, end of year summaries, installation, and maintenance work.

Requirements
Associate degree in physical/natural science, engineering, hydrology or an applicable equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
1-3 years of technical/field service experience and leadership preferred.
Proven track record in project management, customer service operations, and fiscal management skills.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for data related to meteorology, environmental monitoring, flood warning, wildfire, and public safety.
Ability to read, design and produce electrical schematics and wiring diagram drawings.
Understanding of hydrological and meteorological engineering principles.
Broad and extensive knowledge of remote data collection systems.
Experience with GIS mapping software and tools.
Demonstrated complex problem-solving ability and sound judgement.
Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Related experience with cameras, networking, point-to-point telemetry, cloud software and mobile applications.
Extensive knowledge of telemetry systems, telemetry network design, RF path analysis and design, satellite communications and TCP/IP
Knowledge of protocol analyzing tools.
Knowledge of sensor and datalogger technology.
Understanding of datalogger coding methods and computer languages.
Experience with product development lifecycle processes.
Ability to analyze needs and product requirements to create a design.
Ability to generate and adapt equipment and technology to serve user needs.
Experience conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Ability to determine causes of operating errors and creation and implementation of action plans.
Demonstrated competency with Microsoft® Windows® software products.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ERP software systems, preferably NetSuite and/or Salesforce.
Must be able to manage time efficiently to meet both client and company needs.
PMP certification would be preferred.
Must be able to work on, around, over and under fixed equipment and to work at heights from lifts and ladders.
Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.), bending over to record field data, lifting, and transporting equipment by hand.
Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather or temperature conditions, hazardous environments, confined spaces and on uneven terrain.
Must be able to work on and around water, lakes, rivers, and dams.
Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
Valid passport and driver's license.
Ability and willingness to work overtime or weekends when and as required for business purposes.
Ability and willingness to travel, as and when required, for business-related purposes, both domestically and internationally.
Additional Information:
• This is an on-site position located near our Longmont, CO office.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. US Compensation Range: A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $53,000 - $65,000 per year. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AEM considers a wide range of factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education, licensure and certifications, key skills as well as other market and business considerations when extending an offer. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
