Job Summary:

As the manager of medical underwriting, you will lead a team of support staff and associate medical underwriters through their work of managing risk as it relates to group policy applicants and the evidence of insurability process, ensuring a balance of minimizing anti-selection risk, delivering a positive customer experience, and contributing to both top and bottom-line growth.

  • Support team development of skills and expertise, ensuring each understands their role and is provided with the necessary training and development opportunities needed to thrive and meet goals.

  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers as well as developing effective working relationships with internal partners.

  • Plan, participate, and lead team projects and initiatives; participate in cross departmental, corporate and/or strategic projects.

  • Work collaboratively with leadership team to manage daily workflow and tasks of support staff.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Two (2) years of leadership experience in the insurance industry (medical, employee benefits, or related industries only).

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience with emphasis in Medical Underwriting, or equivalent leadership, analytical, or employee benefits experience is highly preferred.

  • Project leadership background, especially as it relates to leading through technical changes alongside IT.

  • Some travel is required.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$75,250.00 - $120,500.00
