Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at Wellesley College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer position beginning in the fall semester of 2025. The position is for one year, with a 3-2 teaching load. We seek someone who will teach statistics courses, drawn from among the following: introductory statistics, applied statistics, regression analysis and possibly an elective on a topic based on the candidate's area of expertise.

A successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics and provide strong evidence of excellence in teaching. Applications should be submitted online through MathJobs and should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a short description of research (written for non-specialists), a statement of teaching interests and experience, and two letters of reference discussing teaching. The cover letter should address the candidate's interest in developing his/her/their career in an undergraduate liberal arts setting with a diverse student body. Additional documents, such as past student evaluations or a letter of recommendation for research, may be submitted but are not required. For first consideration, applications should be submitted by December 15, 2024, although they will be considered on a rolling basis after that. This position is in a collective bargaining unit represented by Wellesley Organized Academic Workers - UAW (WOAW-UAW).
