Position Summary:

The Education Renewal Zone (ERZ), created by legislation in 2005, is a broad-based P-20 Initiative assigned the task of concentrating and coordinating available resources to improve school performance and student achievement. The primary objective of Educational Renewal Zones is to bridge the gap between two-year college partners, educator preparation programs (EPPS), educational service cooperatives, and public-school districts. The Education Renewal Zone Director facilitates partnerships that enhance school performance and student learning and improve teacher preparation by providing a platform for High-Quality Professional Learning (HQPL) and collaborative forums amongst stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Meet yearly performance goals on state initiatives and track and utilize data to continuously improve program offerings.
  • Develop partnerships between all stakeholders in the educational process to ensure all parties are in conversation about teacher preparation, school performance, and student growth and achievement.
  • Stay up-to-date and support districts and EPPs in implementing innovative teaching methods by providing High-Quality Professional Learning opportunities.
  • Steward grants to support the Zone's activities and goals and oversee budget planning and financial management for the Education Renewal Zone.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Performance goals for the ERZ's focus on high-quality collaborative educator preparation, high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), Lead and Master Professional Educator Designations, coaching training, evidence-based practices, and the engagement of families and communities in the educational process.
The ERZ director facilitates the achievement of these goals through promotion and training in state initiatives. These initiatives include the one-year supervised teacher residency, surveys, and focus groups, promotion of the pre-educator pathway, HQIM and lesson plan internalization, Educator Code of Conduct, Inclusive Practices, RISE Training, LETRS Training, coaching training, High-Impact Tutoring, career pathways, student success plans, and High-Quality Professional Learning (HQPL).The successful candidate has demonstrated knowledge and skill in building and maintaining partnerships with all populations.

Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal, organizational, technological, and advocacy skills are expected.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates will possess a Master's degree, a valid Arkansas standard teacher license, and experience with the supervision of teachers.

Some experience working in partnership with an institution of higher education is desired.
