Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Transportation Design Engineering Intern to join our team in Akron, OH. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by technical experts in the field of transportation design. Arcadis' Transportation Group delivers "best in class" technical and innovative solutions to our clients on the design, delivery, and management of critical resources to our state, municipal and design-build clients.

The role sits within our global business area of Mobility. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Role accountabilities:


  • Assist in the preparation of roadway design plans, engineering reports, studies and analyses in a wide range of areas - (e.g. traffic operations, safety, hydraulic modeling and traffic modeling projects).
  • Assist in the preparation of conceptual designs and construction plans utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D and Microstation and - Open Roads/Geopak software.
  • Engineering design including geometric design of highways and streets, rail design, drainage design (hydrology and - hydraulics) and completion of construction engineering and inspection tasks.
  • Assist with transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies and general traffic engineering projects.
  • Collection of field data.
  • Assist with conducting and documenting traffic studies using nationally accepted modeling practice, traffic operational analysis using microscopic simulation software such as TransModeler, Synchro, SimTraffic.
  • Use of various software platforms including Microstation, OpenRoads/Geopak, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and HEC-RAS - and Synchro.

Qualifications & Experience:

Pursuing a BS in Transportation, Civil or related engineering discipline. .

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
