What you'll do:


  • Ensure the health, safety, and environmental performance in your areas of responsibility, aiming for zero incidents-no accidents, no harm to people, and no harm to the environment

  • Set and enforce expectation standards for your team, promoting a clean, safe work site and accurate housekeeping

  • Coordinate and participate in employee policy support, ensuring open discussions, performance development, and involvement in team improvement

  • Supervise, train, and develop Maintenance Craft employees, including Cenovus and/or contract Machinists

  • Proactively support the Reliability strategy, conducting fit-for-purpose analyses for failures and seizing opportunities to improve equipment and processes

  • Optimize Maintenance execution practices and procedures for cost-effective results, efficient scheduling, accurate training, and high-quality work execution

  • Lead planned and unplanned unit shutdowns, ensuring timely worklist, job plan, and critical path schedule development, and efficient execution

  • Assure appropriate Control of Work requirements, HSSE reviews, and actions are addressed in work execution

  • Manage and maintain the annual budget for your areas of responsibility

  • Support the use of important metrics for Maintenance and Reliability to drive performance and implement improvements as needed

  • Coordinate the union-company labor agreement fairly, investigating grievances thoroughly and participating in arbitration hearings as required

  • Lead the planning and execution of Turnarounds per the Turnaround Common Process (TCP) achievements and deliverables requirements

  • Participate in the Maintenance Leadership Team, driving continuous improvement and contributing to site-wide initiatives

  • Deliver the Rotating Equipment strategy, supporting the Refinery's goals in availability, safety, reliability, and environmentally sound operations

  • Serve as the Technical Authority for Rotating Equipment in the Toledo Refinery

  • Act as point of contact for major critical rotating equipment engineering requests

  • Define the engineering scope and schedule of predictive/preventative maintenance work to deliver plant capability for all existing rotating equipment

  • Promote networking within Cenovus and across the industry in the Rotating Equipment field

  • Develop and mentor Rotating Equipment Supervisors, Engineers, and PM Technicians

  • Provide supervision to Rotating Equipment Engineers to ensure accurate training, use of technical standards, and proactive planning and execution of Maintenance and Project activities

  • Foster effective use of root cause failure analysis and other reliability-based systems

  • Foster the application of information to identify, develop, and complete projects that prioritize reliability

  • Champion consistent use of recommended equipment acquisition processes

  • Emphasize the consistent use of Management of Change by team members

  • Champion the development and maintenance of equipment records and repair histories

  • Develop, implement, and improve Preventive Maintenance/Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) programs for rotating equipment


Who you are:



Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 12 years relevant experience in relevant maintenance execution and engineering activities required

  • Background in maintenance and/or capital project execution, rotating equipment engineering, contractor relations, and exposure to plant/refinery operations preferred

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience preferred
