The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining forecasting and demand plans that enable the organization to achieve the sales & service objectives. This individual will use historical data and projections from the Sales Team to continuously update and improve item level forecasts. Collaboration with supply planning and sales is key to this role's success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Refresh and publish forecast changes on an agreed upon schedule and communicate significant changes to purchasing.
Partner with Sales to gather customer information relevant to producing an accurate forecast. Information will include product assortments (by customer), new item introductions, timing for discontinued items, and promotional plans.
Meet regularly with Sales, Operations, and Supply Planning to monitor current forecast status and required actions such as contingency planning.
Consolidate multiple projections into a by item shipment projection.
Reconcile item level forecasts with sales projections. Identify and understand reasons for gaps.
Make recommended adjustments to the forecast based on changes in demand and market trends.
Actively participates in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) / Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Process - develops monthly forecasts by product family and key account, communicates changes to aggregate forecasts, and raises S&OP forecast issues for resolution.
Provide short to medium term project support and analysis to the Demand Planning Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in business operations, Supply Chain Management, Statistics.
3-5 years' experience in demand planning and forecast analysis.
Experience working in SKU intense business with long lead times and high amount of new product offerings.
Working knowledge of supply chain process and ERP/MRP systems.
Knowledge of methods to drive forecast improvements.
Proficiency with statistical modeling and product demand planning / forecasting methods
Strong system and analytical skills required. The ability to extract and compile data from multiple systems / sources, analyze data and then make recommendations for action.
ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
Strong organization skills.
High sense of urgency and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Results oriented and deadline driven.
Consumer good industry experience preferred.
Knowledge/experience participating in an S&OP/IBP process is preferred.
