POSITION SUMMARY
(Sign on bonus of $7500)
The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care and safety.
The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSE: Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except Ultrasound and MRI. NMTCB or ARRT is required for Nuclear Medicine.
EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially to work. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually to work.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
* Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.
* yr diagnostic testing experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
* Licensed by the State of NJ, Department of Environmental Protection for technologists also licensed in Radiography.
* BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
* Registry or Registry Eligible American Registry of Radiology Technologist. If registry eligible at time of hire registration is required within one year.
* Advanced certification from ARRT required within 1 year of passing initial registry or date of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time; technologist performing MRIs require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
UNIT POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) serviced: Cardiac/cardiovascular, mammary, GI, endocrine, renal, skeletal conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD,PVD, CVA/Tia, COPD,CHEF, Oncology, etc..
