Role:





The Financial Analyst assists in preparing the annual budget and quarterly rolling forecasts for the credit union and its CUSO. This role involves designing, developing, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses to compare performance against budgets and forecasts. The analyst collaborates with various departments to understand trends impacting the organization, identifies key trends, evaluates risks and opportunities, and supports the Senior Financial Analyst in business performance monitoring, including peer comparisons and reporting. Additionally, the Financial Analyst aids the Manager FRP&A, VP Controller, and SVP/CFO with report analysis, trend analytics, and supports the monthly accounting close process as needed.


Location: Our headquarters are based in Syracuse, NY. We work in a Hybrid Model requiring a minimum of 5 days in office per month.





Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Forecasting:
- Oversee financial planning and forecasting activities, including designing and analyzing budgets and forecasts.
- Recommend actionable strategies to enhance performance and mitigate risks and opportunities.

Budget Preparation & Analysis:
- Develop and analyze consolidated budgets and forecasts.
- Examine trends in revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures to provide insights and recommendations.

Quarterly Forecasts & Special Projects:
- Prepare and present quarterly forecasts to Senior Management.
- Execute special financial studies and collaborate with various departments for in-depth data analysis.

Financial Reviews & Analysis:
- Conduct budget-to-actual reviews and provide comprehensive financial performance analysis.
- Report on key financial metrics, including rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments, to VP/Controller and SVP/CFO.

Monthly Close Support & Senior Management Assistance:
- Contribute to the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly financial close.
- Assist the VP/Controller and SVP/CFO with various tasks and reporting needs.

Audit & Compliance:
- Support audit and regulatory examinations by coordinating with auditors and examiners to ensure compliance.

Other Duties:
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the overall objectives of the finance team.

Knowledge and Skills:







Experience

3 to 5 years of experience in a similar or related financial analysis role, including expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.







Education

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Experience in Cost Accounting is highly desirable.







Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.







Other Skills

- Proficiency in creating and utilizing financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and generate insights to support business decisions.
- Advanced skills in financial software and tools, such as Excel, ERP systems, and data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting, analysis, and data management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings, preparing reports, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial issues and recommend actionable solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
