JOB DESCRIPTION



Wood's Technical Consulting Group is currently recruiting for a GIS Specialist with a strong background in marine/offshore Geoscience, to join our Survey, GIS and Data Management Team in our Houston, TX office. The GIS Specialist will have a varied and exciting role, and play a key role in advancing the use of GIS and other digital technologies. In addition to supporting the Houston, there will be opportunities to contribute to the survey, GIS and geoscience global technical disciplines.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team that supports a variety of clients, projects, and internal business partners across both the traditional offshore oil and gas sector, and the growing US onshore and offshore clean energy market.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage project GIS databases including data loading, quality assurance and metadata.
  • Produce maps, charts, reports and other data deliverables for internal and external issue.
  • Develop and maintain map services and other content for web-based GIS portals.
  • Respond to project queries on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers on pipeline routing and other GIS analysis tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings and workshops.
  • Contribute to GIS data specifications and other technical material.
  • Support internal and external training programs on GIS applications.
  • Raise awareness and support the wider adoption of GIS technology through workshops, presentations and marketing materials.





QUALIFICATIONS



  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferable) in Geographic Information Systems or a related Geomatics field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering support role; experience in oil/gas subsea fields and offshore wind developments is highly desirable. Relevant onshore experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in ESRI ArcGIS products including ArcGIS Server and 3D Analyst.
  • A good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Global Mapper and data exchange with ESRI products.
  • Strong SQL Server or related RDBMS skills.
  • Experience working with digital elevation models and performing terrain analysis.
  • A good understanding of coordinate systems and transformations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required to deliver projects.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment to deliver on team goals.
  • Self-motivated and requiring minimal supervision.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Teams.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
