The Sales Engineer is the p rimary technical and security engineering resource for the sales team.
Essential Functions
Preparation of timely and accurate engineered solutions for a variety of integrated security solutions; including: access control, CCTV/IP video surveillance, intrusion detection, identity management, electronic locking hardware, biometric s and associated infrastructure
Generation of technical Scopes of Work (SOW) and detailed design narratives for engineered solutions and associated cost estimates up to and over $250k
Manage engineering and estimation process to include interfacing with multiple representatives of sales, marketing, manage ment, vendor and customer teams
Responsible for engineering and the associated cost estimate for mid-level, large and complex integrated security pr ojects
Analyze blueprints, construction drawings and technical/functional design specifications to prepare compliant engineered solution s and associated cost estimates
Perform needs analysis meetings and job site walks wi th customers and the sales team
Research emerging technologies in physical security market and train sales s taff on new offerings/solutions
Develop engineered solutions that map customer business requirements t o security technology solutions
Technical advisor and product advocate durin g the sales/engineering process
Interface with product and distribution partners to obtain systems, device and equipment pri cing during engineering process
Support the sales team by participating in technical discussions and meetings with customers and p roduct partners
Support the sales team in activities and technical presentations in f ront of prospects and customers
Maintain quality assurance by f ollowing organization standards
Organize solution reviews and internal technical meetings
Daily verbal and written com munication with the sales team
Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
Current and valid US driver's license
At least 3 + years in a pre-sales support/estimating position with access control and CCTV/ IP video surveillance, or hands-on physical security industry experience
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Some CAD an d/or Visio experience preferred
Basic understanding of server, stora ge and networking architectures
Industry certifications
The ability to work in a dynamic team environment with expanding custo mer base
Excellent time management, multi- ta sking and prioritization skills
Ability to eliminate sales obstacles through c reative and adaptive approaches
Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to manage deadlines and have excellent follow-up skills in ord er to drive tasks to completion
Must be professional and polished in appearance and be comfortable speaking to small groups of managers and technical and/or facility personnel
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds .
Work Environment
May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker may be subject to frequent heavy lifting.
