Job Description:




SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Assistant Controller in the Office of Administration. This position will report to the Controller and will provide leadership and professional accounting services with a focus on quality customer service to both internal and external entities. In the absence of the Controller, the Assistant Controller will act as the Controller when needed.




RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Prepares quarterly financial summaries for all grants and works with Grant Project Directors on reconciliations of grant expenses.

  • Produces monthly bank reconciliations for all College bank accounts.

  • Keeps abreast of compliance reporting changes and works with the correct office to implement any updates.

  • Coordinates and prepares ad hoc reports as requested.

  • Creates and reviews policies and procedures as needed.

  • Assists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting.

  • Researches and reconciles accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.

  • Reviews salary-related information as needed to assist Payroll

  • Contributes to team efforts with support and completing related tasks as needed

  • Assist in preparation of the annual audit.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual tax compliance documents.

  • Other duties as assigned.






Requirements:





Minimum Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Application.

  • At least three (3) years of accounting experience in an office setting.





Preferred Qualifications:





  • Experience in Higher Education administration.

  • Master's degree.

  • Experience using Ellucian, Banner software.

  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Salary: $55,000/year
