The salary range for this position is $194,200 - $218,400 per year based upon a San Francisco location. Offered salary is dependent upon experience and location. Summary

The Senior Director of FP&A will play a critical leadership role within the finance team, providing financial oversight and strategic insights to support the company's growth and profitability objectives. This role will oversee financial planning and analysis for Kendo's Ecommerce and Lip Labs business, and Central HQ functions including Operations, HR/People, Legal, Finance/Accounting, IT, Executive/EA. This position requires a strong analytical mind, excellent managerial and communication skills across varying levels of the organization, and a deep understanding of financial modeling and forecasting within a complex multi-branded company. As a leader to a team of five, the individual will need to possess exceptional coaching and mentoring skills. The position will report to the VP of Finance.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Planning


  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that align with business goals.

  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range business plans for the DTC, Lip Labs, and Central SF HQ functions.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities for financial viability including new LL stores, and new Ecom platforms/programs.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish financial targets for Central HQ functions and DTC/Lip Labs.

  • Lead Kendo's Gross Margin initiatives, including target setting, pricing, and support long range category planning process.


Financial Analysis & Reporting


  • Provide insightful analysis on financial results including variance explanations for revenue, margin, operating expenses, and other key financial metrics.

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management reporting packages that include P&L and expense reviews along with analysis of key business trends.

  • Develop and present financial models to support decision making related to business initiatives, new distribution opportunities, capital + marketing investments, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate financial information to stakeholders.

  • Support month-end close activities as needed including creating finance accruals and journal entries.


Leadership & Team Management


  • Lead a FP&A team of five by setting clear expectations and guidance, providing coaching/development opportunities, and fostering a culture of excellence.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between the FP&A team and DTC/Lip Labs businesses and SF HQ Depts: Operations, HR/People, Finance/Accounting, Legal, IT, Executive/EA.


Process Improvement & Systems Integration


  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes through automation tools or process re-engineering efforts in AX, SyRUS, Axiom, Anaplan, and Power BI

  • Champion the implementation and integration of new FP&A systems such as Anaplan and Power BI to enhance data quality and efficient analysis.

  • Lead development of Kendo's workforce financial planning module in Anaplan.

  • Co-lead LVMH's SCALE and ERP implementation projects at Kendo.


Requirements


  • Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA or CFA designation preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in senior-level finance roles within large-scale multinational corporations; prior experience managing an FP&A function in beauty industry strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record successfully managing teams across different geographies and cultures.

  • Strong communication skills; ability to articulate financial concepts clearly both verbally and written form across all levels of organization including non-finance executives.

  • Demonstrated project management ability; adept at balancing multiple priorities tight deadlines fluid environment where change norm rather than exception.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Preferred experience with AX, Anaplan, Power BI, and ability to learn & adapt to in-house system applications.

  • Must be curious, accurate, and detail oriented.

  • Must bring a positive attitude with fresh eyes and an appetite for change management.

  • Must work well in a fast paced, team-oriented, and dynamic environment.
