Undergraduate research student assistants are needed to conduct work on several projects on bumble bee health and genetics in the Jamie Strange entomology lab, under the direction of postdoctoral scholar Pinar Barkan. Work in the Strange lab will mainly focus on monitoring bumble bee pathogens. The students are expected to collect biological specimens including bumble bee gynes, rear bumble bees and maintain colonies, process samples in the laboratory, and report results to members of the Strange Lab. Students will travel to field sites near Columbus, but will also participate in collection trips to other locations which may involve overnight travelling. A driver's license is not required but will be advantageous.
Students will be permitted to work 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks.
