Columbia Forest Products, North America's largest manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer products, is seeking a Value Stream Manager (VSM) - Day Shift to work in our Craigsville, West Virginia facility.
The Value Stream Manager is responsible for managing, training, coaching and sustaining each Team Lead under their value stream. The VSM works with operators, support staff and management to develop and implement the Lean System and Tools.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain a clear understanding of all major process performance issues in the value stream.
Lead by the Columbia Way Daily Management System (DMS) to communicate and coordinate production activities within and between teams.
Shift handoffs for communication of issues.
Manage labor and overtime expectations.
Prioritize activities to resolve operational problems based on impact.
Lead problem solving efforts.
Ensure all action items are completed on a timely basis.
Develop, coach and assure the effectiveness of each team lead.
Respond to andon pulls.
Meet or exceed internal target reject rates.
Rapid resolution of priority quality issues.
Variable cost at or below budget per MSF.
Meet or exceed production targets.
Establish a strong positive trend of improving value stream run ratios.
Maintain inventory accuracy.
Update standard work and 5S documents.
Train team leads.

Safety Concerns:
Proper PPE must always be worn.
This job requires regular work with lightweight materials and occasional work with average weight materials. The individual must concentrate mental and visual attention while closely planning and laying out complete work.
Exposure to a lot of moving gears, belts, drives, etc. Hands or other body parts cannot be placed near moving equipment unless proper LOTO procedure has been followed.
Ability to lift minimum of 25lbs.
Support all safety projects and initiatives.
Quality Concerns:
Continuously improves to help get the plant target reject percentages while striving to lower the amount of rejects. Understands quality targets for all areas. Provides feedback for processes through quality gates, andon pulls and customer claims.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent with appropriate experience.
