RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in Charlotte, NC that is seeking an AML/BSA Specialist responsible for fulfilling the Anti-Money-Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act requirements through identification and investigation of suspicious activity.

Summary:
The AML/BSA Specialist will be using internal and external systems to review fraud alert information to detect possible elderly or vulnerable adult exploitation. If that activity is taking place, they contact APS and make a report that is sent to them so a social worker can be assigned. Once trained, they will have about 25 to 30 alerts per day to complete. The Specialist will work with a team currently with 13 FTE, 1 contractor, adding 2 more. For this role, they will be interacting with internal team members and other employees, and also APS and law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities:


  • Analyze customer account transactions to detect suspicious activity and make decisions on appropriate action to take

  • Work cooperatively with business line to establish procedures for identifying suspicious customer transactions, specific to money laundering, including the proper method for reporting such activity to the anti-money-laundering group

  • Provide guidance, support, and recommendations to business lines regarding customer AML risk ratings and account activity

  • Based on the outcome of the investigation, analyze and determine whether or not a Suspicious Activity Report (SARs) must be filed with the Federal Government for any identified suspicious activity

  • Work cooperatively with internal departments, financial institutions, and local, state or federal authorities to obtain and analyze necessary info

  • Reviewing fraud alert information to determine if reporting is required for adult protection services and conducting APS reporting







REQUIREMENTS:



  • Attention to detail, as they will need to know the matrix of what to do for each state so being able to know what they are looking at and how to work state agency is important

  • Being able to learn quickly and work fairly independently and not require a lot of hand holding/supervision is also required

  • Word, Excel and all Microsoft products are used regularly, so being comfortable with those is necessary

Preferred:

  • Associate degree preferred but not required

  • Experience of 1-2 years in fraud or AML is helpful as well

  • Comfortable with being on phone and talking and submitting information online, consistently and accurately

  • Banking experience is preferred but will not be required

  • AML or fraud experience a plus but not required






The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
