The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring for a Senior News Production Manager at KSBY. They will schedule and coordinate production and photography personnel work schedules. Oversee studio maintenance like lighting, etc and assisting with preparing the studio and staff for special events and programs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Studios: Schedule, coordinate and Maintain
Assist in scheduling and recording reserved studio time; including, but not limited to special event set up and meetings.
Oversee and correctly coordinate the efficient and satisfactory use of studios and equipment as well as the physical maintenance of studios.
Assist in any studio change necessities
Work with and provide requested assistance to the News Director to achieve and maintain the lighting look and integrity of the news and other sets.
Coordinate production and photography personnel work schedules
Train all new Multimedia Journalists on how to use station equipment including cameras and editing systems.
Hire, train, and oversee news photographers.
Verify timecards for production department.
Create and coordinate annual vacation schedules.
Keep detailed records of employees time off.
Maintain daily emergency scheduled fill ins for vacant positions as needed.
May assign and schedule editors for promotion.
May direct news and fill- in for various positions as needed.
Read/follow up on newscast discrepancy reports
Work with News Director and Director of Engineering to define problems and determine solutions for proper corrective procedures via written discrepancy reports and one on one meetings.
Department morale and team builder
Supervisor is on call person as needed for news production.
Be readily available and receptive to employees/staff regarding any complaints.
Responsible for Vehicle Maintenance, purchase, etc
Video stock, camera equipment - coordinate and maintain
Purchase expendables, example - lighting, filters, gaffers tape, etc.
Special productions
Help other departments with coordination and set up of special events.
Special event coordination, set up and supervision of crews.
Assist with daily news set ups, live shots and ENG intake when available. To include, not limited to being available for news live shots - ground or helicopter.
Determine technical and personnel requirements for special productions in the field.
Troubleshoot technical difficulties.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 7+ years of experience in related field preferred
Prior managerial experience preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Ability to work well with all levels of personnel and departments to plan and negotiate.
Strong organizational skills
Must be detail-oriented
Ability to prioritize projects and tasks
Strong project planning skills and able to handle multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
Excellent oral and written communication skills (multitasker)
Strong functional knowledge of the broadcast industry
Keen sense for anticipating issues and resolving them before they occur
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Job requires squatting, lifting, climbing; must be able to climb ladders and other equipment
Flexible hours including evening and on-call
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.

COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $65,000.00 - 75,000
