The Nebraska Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Program Center is looking for a Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor. The position is located at YRTC-Kearney in Nebraska.

Min Permanent Rate $31.654


Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor II: $34.354/hour
Min Permanent Rate $36.072


$3.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked in addition to hourly rate!



Job Description



The Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor oversees day to day operations of mental health services and programming at the YRTC Kearney location.



Duties include:



  • Develops and directs implementation of operational plans pertinent to mental health to ensure the establishment of appropriate goals and the development of action steps to achieve those goals. Determines and requests/submits staff, material, and equipment need for the mental health department. Develops performance evaluation standards and procedures for subordinate staff, counsels and confers with subordinate staff.

  • Trains YRTC employees in the principles, practices, policies, and/or procedures of mental health services/therapy. Responsible for the weekly supervision of Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioners and monthly supervision of Licensed Mental Health Practitioners. Assesses psychosocial status and needs of youth served using information from psychological evaluations, social work assessments, individual history, and direct clinical observations to recommend treatment planning. Counsels, treats, and provides psychotherapy to individual and groups of female youth diagnosed with a behavioral, substance use and/or mental health needs.

  • Compiles progress notes, documents, assessments, treatment activities and other written documentation on assigned youth in a timely manner. Coordinates interdisciplinary team meetings and/or serves as a member to ensure completeness of individual treatment plans or care plans or to update treatment plans.

  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, being knowledgeable of effective interventions and strategies for the assigned population as well as individuals. Acts as "on call" mental health staff, on rotating basis for coverage of weekend/evening/holiday mental health needs of youth. Must maintain current Nebraska licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner.




Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications:



Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor I: Nebraska License as Mental Health Practitioner.


Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor II: State of Nebraska licenses as Mental Health Practitioner and Alcohol and Drug Counselor.



Legal Requirements: Licensure requirements for all levels pursuant to Nebraska State Statutes 38-2122, 38-2124, and 38-316.



Preferred Qualifications: LIMHP is preferred. Supervisory experience. Experience working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system and/or experiencing behavioral health issues is preferred.



Other
: Hours are M-F 8:00am-4:30pm, rotating on call. To be hired as a Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor II, the successful candidate will be required to to have licensure as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP).

Knowledge of: professional ethics; therapeutic methods for providing crisis intervention and group and individual therapy; psychiatric medications and their side effects; interpersonal dynamics; mental and emotional disorders; social and cultural factors as related to mental health; patterns and processes of normal growth and development; adult education; sound correctional security measures; case planning and development; department and institutional rules and regulations; institutional and community based resources; program development and evaluation; personnel rules; the NAPE/AFSCME contract; continuous quality improvement; agency mission, goals and objectives, federal, state, and institutional policies/procedures; chemical dependency testing procedures; community referral resources; clinical and supervision and leadership.



Skill in: active listening; effective communication; presenting information to groups and/or individuals; persuasion; social perceptiveness; conducting client assessments; treatment planning; client progress documentation.



Ability to: communicate and deal with a wide range of individuals; make sound decisions; solve problems; function effectively as a team member; develop program specific philosophies, policies, and procedures; explain the significance of behavior patterns and signs to patients and other team members; monitor patient progress and recommend new strategies; prepare written reports; document findings and treatment; provide crisis intervention; manage and organize; provide supervision and leadership to staff members; facilitate conflict resolution; function effectively as a team leader; react to crisis situations; administer a budget; follow legal and ethical standards; establish expectations and evaluate performance; identify and resolve problems; and successfully apply supervisory and leadership skills with employees and in direct client care settings.
