Job Description:

The Director of Sales - Fine Paper is responsible for the managing and performance of the fine paper regional sales personnel as well as serving as a resource and liaison with Marketing and Operations personnel, to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity and economic goals. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)

Essential Position Functions:


  • Monitor regional sales performance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness providing needed services while staying within budgetary limits.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with customers, branch personnel and headquarters personnel.

  • Interfaces daily with corporate management and external customers

  • Review and analyze sales personnel performance results and take corrective and/or training & development actions as needed.

  • Evaluate, develop, improve and implement procedures and practices.

  • Build a team environment to accomplish goals.

  • Ensures regional sales operations comply with federal, state, local and company policies.

  • Actively create and grow relationship with local, core suppliers.

  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience preferred in Fine Paper.

  • 5+ years' sales or marketing experience in the paper or packaging industry.

  • Strong communication skills - open, honest verbal and written communications.

  • Thorough knowledge of operations.

  • Strategic thinking.

  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Experience in managing budgets and expenses.

  • Ability to process information by phone, fax, PC, mainframe and computer system.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days as the business dictates. Must be willing and able to work in excess of 40 hours per week.

  • Ability to handle stress related to demands of internal and external customers.

  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.

  • Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.

  • Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations. Must be able to work alone, and with a team.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Mental Demands

  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.

Work Environment
  • Employees work under typical office conditions, but due to travel/driving responsibilities will be exposed to weather and typical driving conditions.
