Position Summary

The Operations Engineering Manager will be responsible for engineering supervision, guidance, and support. The primary focus will be field operations and engineering support including well design, drilling, completions, intervention, and operations. The position will be remotely based. Travel required for field supervision, employee mentoring, and operational support functions commensurate with operational activity levels.

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist Sr. Manager of Operations in resource allocation and forecasting.

  • Operations team management duties.

  • Act as a primary resource for engineering and operations staff technical guidance.

  • Help lead and monitor internal quality, safety, governance, and associated initiatives as directed by management.

  • Develop well-drilling and completion designs, procedures, and budgets and coach/guide more junior employees in the same.

  • Monitor and advise on addressing challenges during operations (drilling, completions, testing, injection, plugging, monitoring, etc.).

  • Technical oversight and review of peer and contractor (operations, reservoir, and others) work product.

  • Coach and assist in the development of technical and operational team members on well engineering concepts.

  • Contribute to and conduct project budgeting and scheduling in collaboration with project managers.

  • Support customers on a technical basis working together with their teams.

  • Participate in operational procurement and cost tracking for well construction, completions, workovers, and other operational aspects of subsurface operations.

  • Supervise seismic acquisition, drilling, completions, workovers, repairs, and environmental sampling.

  • Determine required support resources for data acquisition systems on Projeo and customer operated projects.

  • Assist and/or lead technical writing (including permit development for UIC class wells), proposal development, operational writing, and reporting.

  • Be on call for field operational response.

  • Coordinate and contribute across multidisciplinary (G&G, Data Analytics, Project Management, Enterprise, Customer) teams.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

  • Pressure Control – The candidate will have a good understanding (and preferably certification) in well pressure control (IADC or other).


  • Field Operations – The candidate will have a deep working knowledge of field operations in petroleum/subsurface well systems including wellheads, distributions system, and wellbores (drilling and completions).


  • Regulatory – The candidate will have experience with operations conducted within the UIC regulatory framework and CFR part 192.


  • Industry Standards – The candidate will have a solid understanding of applicable industry standards and best practices (i.e. API, ASME, SPE, etc).

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Operations Engineering Manager will supervise third party contractors for both technical and field tasks. The Operations Engineering Manager will have primary responsibility for team development, goal setting, and career progression.

 

Education and Experience


  • B.Sc. in Engineering. Petroleum preferred.

    • 10+ years of related experience.



  • Professional Engineering licensure in any state

    • Or the ability to procure a license within one year of hire date.



  • Prior work experience in operational and field engineering roles in oil & gas or other similar industries required.

  • Willingness and ability to work at remote (field/well) locations for periods of up to two weeks.

  • Experience with field safety applications and ownership.

  • Previous supervisory responsibility of engineering and operations staff

 

Physical Requirements


  • Requires a valid driver’s license.

  • Work authorization for the United States.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Travel will be required (typically 30% or less)

  • Ability to temporarily work extended hours onsite without compromising safety.

 

Position Grade, Compensation Range, and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 USD annually, with a grade level of G15, and a target performance incentive of 11% of the annual salary. This salary range is Projeo’s good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, Projeo’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the annual salary, grade levels, and bonus. The range listed is just one component of Projeo’s total compensation package for employees.
