The CAE Engineer is responsible for the CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) analysis of products and performing 2D/3D finite element analyses (FEA) to predict automotive component functional performance utilizing software. The engineer performs studies to determine predicted FEA analysis correlations versus actual tested production parts. Interfaces with internal and external customers, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, CAD designers, and lab personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform 2D/3D FEA's on existing and newly developed EPDM and TPE components
Derive FEA material models from test data to be used for analyses on dense and sponge EPDM and TPE components
Develop working knowledge of business group operations and application methods to assist with implementing project objectives, product systems, budgets, timelines, and other requirements
May supervise or serve as a lead to lower level team members performing research projects
Responds to complex questions and concerns from internal/external customers, and related programs and services
Perform material characterization studies on new sponge and dense EPDM and TPE compounds
Applies department policies, procedures, applicable rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas
Perform correlation verification studies by comparing predicted FEA analysis to parts made in the production process and make improvements to reduce variation between predicted FEA and actual parts
Develop new techniques to improve FEA capabilities
Use existing procedures to sole standard problems; analyses information and standard practices to make judgments
Serve as a team member for projects that are moderate to large in nature and independently carries out project tasks and provides professional technical support to others
Communicate FEA analysis results to internal and external customer engineers
Perform minor design modifications on previously analyzed sections to improve performance and to meet customer requirements
Provide informal instruction, guidance and direction to new team members
Lead smaller or less complex projects to ensure daily tasks and project objectives are completed
May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description. Performs other related duties

Must have a working knowledge of CAD software (ie; Solid Works, Catia, UG, etc.)
Experience in Unix Operating System, and FEA meshing and analysis tools a plus
Ability to communicate messages verbally and written clearly and concise
Solves problems in typical situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment
Impacts quality and effectiveness of own work team and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
Ability to explain moderately complex information to others in concise manner
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
