This position is for the Division of General Academic Pediatrics (GAP) within the Department of Pediatrics. The incumbent will conduct home-based intervention visits on a weekly basis; caseload will be approximately 10-15 families each week. This individual will employ the evidence-based model, the Family Check-Up, for families with expectant parents and parents of children ages birth to 5 years old. Goals of the program include improving parenting skills and involvement in their children's lives, promoting parental well-being and social support, and reducing risk of child behavioral and emotional problems. To be eligible, families will be facing multiple levels of adversity, including economic, family (e.g., depression, history of substance use), and/or child (e.g., early irritability, disruptive behavior) challenges. The incumbent must possess a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. Clinical/counseling training and experience working face to face with clients/patients is also required (can be experience within a practicum/externship/internship). In addition, this individual must attain certification in the Family Check-Up parenting intervention within 12 months of hire (training and supervision in the intervention will be provided). Note that this position is funded by non-university funds and the continuation of this position is contingent upon the renewal of these funds. Driving is required for this position. The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and carry insurance if using own vehicle. A university vehicle is available on a limited basis. The owner’s automobile liability insurance coverage is primary coverage. The University’s automobile liability insurance policy provides excess coverage only. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical counseling, psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation and/or behavioral health services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a diverse population of students/clients utilizing specialized techniques to foster development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Facilitates comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and/or case reviews.
