We are seeking a full-time Construction Manager – Electrical Engineer (Low Voltage) to join our dynamic and growing team at the Dallas VA Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. This project phase constructs approximately 166,000 gross square feet (GSF) of space for a new 30-bed Long-Term Spinal Cord Injury (LTSCI) unit with associated clinical and administrative support spaces at the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas, Texas. Construction of the new LTSCI includes renovation of a portion of the existing Acute Care Spinal Cord Injury Building to join and integrate with the new LTSCI. Construction also includes modification and realignment of the campus loop road, utility upgrades, and associated site improvements.



Requirements:

  • Conducts portions of daily inspections of site work, building construction work; documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials, or techniques in the application of materials, substandard or poor-quality workmanship; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate project phasing.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files relating to the Construction Management (CM) services on the project that the Government may inspect at any time.
  • Reviews contractor's submittals and RFIs; maintains accurate and complete job files including as-built drawings and specifications; identifies progress delays and recommends appropriate corrective measures to the lead engineer toward mitigating delays and maintaining the progress schedule.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports indicating work completed, work in progress with estimated completion dates, work scheduled and outstanding work.
  • Utilize computerized management system applications, processing requests for information, preparing draft contract modification documents for the senior resident engineer's use, etc.; maintaining an inventory of materials, supplies and equipment and monitoring the quantity of materials used in the general administration and conduct of office operations.

Relevant Project Experience

  • Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for contract modifications.
  • Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of basic aspects of commercial hospital electrical construction including but not limited to underground electrical installation, high and low voltage power distribution, emergency engine generators and transfer switches, grounding, lightning protection, lightning, and installation of special medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of low voltage systems including but not limited to fire alarm, telecommunication and data distribution, nurse call and code blue, motion intrusion detection, two-way radio, security management and access control, public address, master antenna TV, and HVAC direct digital controls.
  • Knowledge of conveying systems including electric dumbwaiters and materials lifts, electric traction elevators, hydraulic elevators, pneumatic tube systems, and uniform dispensing equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical design and installation for specialized medical and laboratory equipment including but not limited to MRI, PET, CT, audiometric booths, fume hoods, and sterilization equipment.
  • Knowledge of governmental contracting procedures, principles, guidelines and public law.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.
