We are looking to grow our team with the addition of a Design and Development Engineer in our elite Advanced Mechanical Platform and Systems Technologies group. In this role, you will be responsible for the technology development and implementation of new processes, components, tooling and automated systems that enable MSEI to meet its product quality, reliability, volume, delivery and cost objectives.

Your Responsibilities


  • Provide leadership in a cross-functional environment for the development and implementation of mechanical systems technologies for both new products, processes and, electronics assembly technologies.
  • Using off-the-shelf technologies, provide solution based creative designs and manufacturing techniques to meet the requirements for new products and new platform technologies to be used in the assembly of the medical products.
  • Use 3D CAD, simulation tools, and 3D prototyping to rapidly create innovative, cost effective and reliable mechanical designs for product platforms and software configurable manufacturing automation platforms.
  • Develop specifications for new mechanical equipment, components, tooling, and automated assembly systems. These cover the spectrum of mechanical components, mechanical assembly systems and electrical test equipment.
  • Lead implementation tasks including stage-gate approvals, documentation, supplier quality interface, characterization, verification and on-going sustaining support in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Perform in depth design reviews to ensure new products meet the requirements with high quality and can be manufactured at high efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior level engineers and specialists in development and manufacturing.

Your Profile

Education / Experience Requirements


  • Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Mechatronics Engineering - with evidence of high academic achievement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Detail oriented.
  • 8 to 10 years of direct manufacturing process development, technology development and automated equipment development.
  • Demonstrated experience with 3-D Modeling for mechanical design of products, process equipment and custom tooling (Solidworks or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive, implement and complete engineering projects and experiments on schedule.
  • Experience with design & build of complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Proven leadership skills mentoring, coaching or managing technical staff.
  • Planning/project management skills: MS-Project, Project Management Fundamentals training.
  • Data analysis skills: Trained in DMAIC approach, with demonstrated use of data analysis with JMP, Minitab or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in standard office productivity software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc...).
  • Demonstrated ability to interface across multiple functions/organizations (Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Test, Module/System development) to drive closure on projects.
  • Demonstrated creativity with multiple examples of innovative solutions. U.S. or EU Patents desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership interest/ability (intra/extracurricular).
