Location: Portland, Oregon
Post-award Management: Manages post-award invoicing on clinical trials. Provides financial reports for regularly scheduled meetings with PIs and their teams. Helps to track research labor schedules. Works with PIs to ensure annual and final reports are completed and submitted as outlined by awarding agencies.
Grant and Contract Planning and Development: Interprets sponsor guidelines and requirements; works with Principal Investigators (PI) to gather appropriate documents for grant submissions to agencies and/or collaborators; helps to prepare budgets for grants and industry-sponsored studies; routes proposals through InfoEd for central office approval.
Contract/Agreement Coordination: Assists PIs by routing contracts and agreements to the appropriate office; analyzes terms and conditions of grant and contract awards and agreements; affirms consistency with department and principal investigator interests and consistent with university policies and requirements.
Technical Assistance: Assists in providing monthly and annual reporting regarding grant applications, awards, and spending to department leadership including the Department Chair and Vice Chair of Research. Help PIs identify funding opportunities.
Other administrative duties as needed and assigned by the Vice Chair of Research, Department Administrator, or Department Research Administrator.
Bachelor’s Degree required AND 1 year of grants and contracts administration experience OR
3 years of grants and contracts administration experience OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum 1 year grants and contracts administration experience
Knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe
Experience and responsibility for obtaining and monitoring the use of grant funds and/or negotiating and administering public or private service contracts
Demonstrated mature and effective interpersonal communications skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility with appropriate demeanor to maintain good working relationships
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with faculty and investigators, staff, students, and visitors at all levels within OHSU and in the community
The ability to forge and foster collaborative working relationships and enlist the support of faculty and staff, both within and external to Department of Surgery
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks under conditions of fluctuating workloads, competing requirements, and changing deadlines; working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction
Ability to work in a complex environment
Discretionary judgment necessary to handle confidential matters
Ability to analyze problems and offer creative solutions, and implement changes
Strong time management and demonstrated capability to work on multiple projects at one time
Strong demonstrated organization skills, with the ability to understand overall program objectives and maintain attention to detail
Experience with NIH, DoD, and foundation grant application and required forms.
