Overview

Intelligent Waves has an immediate need for Instrumentation Technician to support our contract in Yuma, AZ. As a key member of the team, you will support the 59th Test and Evaluation Squadron (59 TES) by providing instrumentation modifications, enhancements, and operational support for instrumentation packages at Yuma, AZ. This role involves evaluating, upgrading, and managing various instrumentation systems throughout the lifecycle of operational missions, from design and integration to functional checkouts and data capture.

Location: This Instrumentation Technician position is based in Yuma, AZ

Travel: This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty location, to include deployments CONUS and OCONUS (30-90 days). Ability to travel up to 75% and must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

Security Clearance: This Instrumentation Technician must hold an active Secret Clearance.

Employees are required to follow all company and customer site COVID-19 protocols.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities include managing equipment, conducting pre- and post-mission activities, performing system checkouts, and managing mission data. The role requires working with systems such as the Quick Response Instrumentation Package (QRIP), Re-Radiation Telemetry Acquisition System (RTAS), C2R Highly Ruggedized TSPI System (GLite), Telemetry, and Beacon systems, with potential for multiple modifications based on aircraft configurations and mission objectives. Existing system documentation will be provided for design and modification activities.

The following instrumentation system operations will be required.

  • Coordinate instrumentation requirements, schedules, work plans and other functions between the Operations division and Aircraft Maintenance Unit (AMU) to verify mission readiness for mission events as defined by the 59 TES.
  • In support of design, modification, and operations activities the Contractor shall move, store or load instrumentation systems; conduct system functional checks, cockpit integrity checks, data uploads/downloads, and mission configurations. Solid State Recorders (SSRs) and associated media data shall be stored in the designated 59 TES vault.
  • Workloads may include instrumentation systems fault isolation and rework to bring instrumentation systems back into operational readiness for mission requirements.
  • Update existing instrumentation systems design packages, utilize local forms and reporting procedures to document system upgrades and operational configuration changes that shall include instrumentation system serial numbers, Group B components in accordance with regulations and engineering data provided by 59 TES.
  • This work shall include integration, functional checkouts, and mission data capture activities.
  • Control electronic data collection systems using non-conventional modification hardware and understand their capabilities and plan, develop, construct, and integrate new devices into the system to perform multiple tasks not previously associated with aerospace and/or other maintenance and evaluation system capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, shift work, and/or overtime to support mission requirements.
  • Mission parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.


Qualifications

  • Must have active DOD Secret clearance.
  • Must have an active/current passport.
  • Minimum of 8 years' aircraft experience.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, develop, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and operate unique airborne instrumentation systems, including evaluating and upgrading their capabilities with emerging technology in aircraft such as, but not limited to, F-15E, F-16, F-22, and F-35, before, during, and after operational missions.
  • Possess the ability to perform calibration and troubleshooting for installed instrumentation systems, including video recording, digital data recording, weapon function monitoring, and other data collection system.
  • Possess practical knowledge of electronic principles and practices and skill in the use of various pieces of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, PLA/PLC programmers, telemetry systems, spectrum analyzers, oscillators, amplifiers, and power supplies.
  • Ability to coordinate instrumentation requirements, schedules, and work plans between the Operations division and Aircraft Maintenance Unit to ensure mission readiness, while providing technical leadership and guidance to other technicians and support personnel.
  • Possess the skill to interpret technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications for complete electronic systems, and control electronic data collection systems using nonconventional hardware to plan, develop, and integrate new capabilities for aerospace and other evaluation systems
  • Possess practical knowledge in support of modification, and operations activities the Contractor shall move, store or load instrumentation systems, conduct system functional checks, cockpit integrity checks, data uploads/downloads, and mission configurations.
  • Possess the ability to coordinate and collaborate with operating personnel and test support staff, plan and analyze test results, and ensure instrumentation compatibility with data reduction capabilities, while monitoring the validity and operational dependability of data.
  • This position requires some physical exertion, such as: long periods of standing, walking and climbing in and around aircraft and equipment; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, climbing, and similar activities; recurring lifting of items up to 50 pounds; and regular visits to aircraft hangars, flight line, construction, test ranges, and other outdoor sites.
