UC Health is hiring a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for the SNF PT-OT department for the first shifts at Daniel Drake Center.

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Implements occupational therapy treatment programs for referred patients under the general supervision of a registered and licensed occupational therapist.Education and Requirements


  • Associate's degree in applied science from an AOTA approved curriculum.
  • Certified by the AOTA as an occupational therapy assistant
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio as an occupational therapy assistant
  • Certified in CPR
  • Prefer one year, but will consider new grad

  • Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. Implements the treatment plan under the direction of the occupational therapist in collaboration with the treatment team. Records objective findings, including pain, monitors patients, response to treatment, and collaborates with the occupational therapist on revision to the treatment goals and plan as appropriate. Utilizes updated and evidence-based treatment techniques. Provides instruction to patient/family regarding ADL/adaptive equipment/splinting needs, home exercises, and training and recommendations for discharge. Meets benchmark for productivity established at the beginning of each fiscal year.
  • Participates in department's performance improvement programs. Completes all annual reviews, chart reviews, annual competencies, and all mandatory requirements to maintain licensure, CPR, or any other required certification by due date. Participates on performance improvement committees as assigned. Able to articulate outcomes and improvements. Participates in educational in-services/opportunities to advance clinical knowledge/competencies.
  • Timely presentation of materials to associates to share knowledge and communicate current activities of committees. Active participation in mentoring and orientation of fellow associates and students as indicated.
  • Consistently achieves benchmark of 90% compliance with criteria from chart audits. Completes all patient related documentation, including encounter forms/charge sheets, legibly and in a timely manner. Complies with all Organizational, department and regulatory standards.
  • Accepts at least one student per year according to department standards, needs and demand and provides appropriate supervision. Adheres to Organizational, department, and Human Resources initiatives and policies. Demonstrates time management skills by completing expected work during regularly scheduled work hours, arriving to meetings on time, completing assigned tasks by deadline, etc. Attends department meetings and in-services and demonstrates professional behavior. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Uses Organizational information services appropriately. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and uses supplies resourcefully. Demonstrates an awareness of budget goals in terms of revenue and expenses and makes recommendations for cost containment. Promotes a positive work atmosphere.
  • Demonstrates open, inclusive, respectful communication. Participates in problem resolution not just problem identification. Uses chain of communication appropriately to exchange information and communicate issues. Collaborates with physicians, nursing, and others as needed to provide the highest quality care to patients and residents. Provides updated and accurate information regarding patient status at care conferences. Assures smooth transitions for patients between levels of care. Demonstrates appropriate communication to customers, team members, supervisors, etc. Revises communication style to meet communication needs of current audience and environment.
  • Shares responsibility for the common goals of the team by carrying patient caseload consistent with peers, maintains benchmark productivity level within time designated to patient care. Available to team by being at work when scheduled, arriving on time, being prepared, being flexible in response to workload demands and helping others complete work when possible. Volunteers' coverage for other associates with high census and other assigned projects when personal caseload is low. Assists with weekend and holiday coverage as census and staffing needs dictate.
