Job Description:

The Disaster Recovery Specialist will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, testing, and execution of the enterprise's disaster recovery processes. Ensuring that the organization can quickly and effectively respond to unexpected disruptions. This role involves assessing risks and resiliency, coordinating recovery efforts, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.


*This position will be hired at the System Administrator or Senior System Administrator level.


** This position is eligible to work hybrid (9 or more days a month onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

Compensation





$89,200 - $122,000


  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The salary range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive salaries that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.




What you'll do



  • Support the definition and implementation of BCBSKS's Disaster Recovery process, policies, and procedures across a diverse set of applications and teams.

  • Leading the development of the roadmap for the Disaster Recovery strategy and direction and put together the plan/roadmap to deliver the defined strategy.

  • Conduct resiliency risk assessments to identify and treat risk related to BCBSKS's Disaster Recovery posture.

  • Plan and oversee the execution of periodic testing exercises to evaluate plan effectiveness and resiliency, and partner with the Information Technology and business areas to drive continuous improvement.

  • Stayabreastofindustrytrends,emergingthreats,andbestpracticesinDisaster Recovery, cloud technologies, andinformationsecurity.

  • Provide ongoing feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention.

  • Work closely with the Business Continuity specialist to ensure the disaster recovery and business continuity plans support the disaster recovery strategy and procedures.

  • Coordinate with the Information Technology staff to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are resilient, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.

  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Evaluate and report on the results of disaster recovery exercises, identifying areas of improvement and updating the plans as needed.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) align with the business continuity requirements.




What you need



  • High School diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related IT field is preferred.

  • Require 5+ years of experience in Information Technology. Preferred experience in disaster recovery operations and management.




Bonus if you have



  • Certification in Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP) is desired.

  • Has the knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, external auditors, and customers regarding all matters pertaining to disaster recovery.

  • The ability to develop and conducttrainingandawarenessprogramstoensurethatrelevantteamsarewell-preparedtoexecute Disaster Recovery planswhenneeded.

  • A thorough understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures, and mainframe architectures.
