Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director, Intensive English Institute - Boca Raton, FL.



The Director of the Intensive English Institute (IEI) provides leadership, direction, and vision to the Intensive English Institute through innovative and forward-looking programs, services, and partnerships. The position reports to the Assistant Provost for Global Engagement and serves as a member of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) Leadership Team.



Summary of Responsibilities:




  • Provide leadership and oversight to IEI programs, services, recruitment, partnerships, and engagement.




  • Represent IEI and, as needed, FAU and the CGE at relevant international meetings, conferences, recruitment fairs, and other events.




  • Lead the development and implementation of the IEI strategic growth plan and ongoing work plan.




  • Prepare IEI periodic and annual reports for the Assistant Provost and CGE leadership.




  • Collaborate with IEI Academic Director on curriculum, faculty, and accreditation matters; provide feedback and participate in the selection of new instructors, instructor evaluations, curricular updates, and implementation of new course offerings that anticipate market demand.




  • Nurture relationships with educational consultants and other third-party providers; negotiate service agreements between IEI and external stakeholders.




  • Develop additional revenue-generating sources through custom programs and partnerships.




  • Seek additional sources of funding through grants and sponsorships.




  • Promote and refine the Global Academic Track as the flagship academic program for university-bound IEI participants.




  • Support strategic planning and initiatives under the Center for Global Engagement and perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Provost.




  • Deliver courses in academic and intercultural communication and/or other courses as part of IEI coursework or custom courses.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six (6) years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight (8) years of appropriate experience required.


Extensive travel, domestic and international, on behalf of FAU required.






Preferred Qualifications/Skills:


Master's degree in Education or closely related discipline.


Proficiency in at least one language other than English, preferably Portuguese or Spanish.


Two years of experience in international recruitment, engagement, or partnership development.


Two years of experience working/teaching in a university-based English language program.


Ability to handle multiple projects and demanding travel/work schedules.


High-level communication skills, global cultural awareness, and ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
