Department Overview: In this position, you will be part of TASC's Center for Health and Justice (CHJ), which provides training,
technical assistance, and research to inform public policy and advance evidence-based practice at the
intersection of public health and justice. CHJ partners with program leaders, policymakers, and
researchers across the country and offers solutions to improve communities' public health and safety.
We are currently looking for full-time – Director of the BJA National COSSUP Deflection TTA Center
Starting at $90,000 – contingent upon experience, education, etc.
Summary: This position provides leadership and oversight of the US Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice
Assistance's (BJA) Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant and Substance Use Disorder Program (COSSUP)
National Deflection TTA Center. The Director oversees training and technical assistance (TTA) activities,
including TA coaching of COSSUP grantees, consultation, and product development, and is responsible
for the performance and financial management of the grant of. The Director coordinates with both internal
and external partners, federal agencies, consultants¬¬, grantees, BJA staff, other COSSUP TTA
providers, trainers, SMEs, and the Senior Director of Deflection Initiatives regarding BJA COSSUP
National Deflection TTA Center activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages BJA fiscal, operational, and audit processes related to the TTA Center, including grant and financial reporting, and budget development within federal contract protocols.
Provides quality assurance in the reporting of TTA delivery and product development activities.
Ensures the sound application of excellence in TTA customer service for all COSSUP grantees and other TTA recipients through building and maintaining a network of relationships with COSSUP TTA partners and BJA leadership.
Supports and oversees the development of training content and other project-related written materials (newsletters and other publications) and multimedia products (webinars, podcasts, and toolkits).
Promotes and coordinates TTA Center involvement in the development and delivery of educational presentations both virtually and in-person to internal and external audiences, including at national conferences.
Provides and oversees Deflection TTA Center subject matter expertise in consulting/technical assistance (TA) and training projects designed to build first responder deflection initiatives, create public safety-to-community behavioral health linkages, reduce recidivism, and support community recovery.
Provides high-quality TA, including on-site and remote consulting, education, and coaching to COSSUP grantees and other deflection initiatives.
Supports the planning and implementation of initiatives through the facilitation of Deflection Solutions Action Planning (DSAP - CHJ Copyright), and supporting communities with the implementation and operationalization of said initiatives.
Works collaboratively with police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS), treatment providers, recovery organizations, people with lived-experience, researchers and evaluators, and community-based agencies.
Engages external stakeholders including COSSUP TTA partners and other agencies and organizations (e.g., federal and non-profit) to identify qualified subject matter experts and trainers to respond to consulting and training requests.
Responsible for the management of contracts for consultants and subawardees.
Works collaboratively with consultants and trainers to ensure the timely completion and delivery of quality consulting and training products
Participates as a member of the CHJ's and TASC's Leadership Teams, contributing to strategic planning and goal setting in line with TASC's overall strategic plan and goals. Shares knowledge, resources, consulting and training opportunities with internal TASC and CHJ departments.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in public health, public policy, social work, criminology, or related field preferred.
Six to nine years of experience in relevant fields or equivalent combination of education and experience, including three to five years of experience in the field of deflection.
Experience in the field of criminal justice is required. Related fields must be directly applicable to deflection and may
include professional experience in fire and EMS, addiction treatment, and recovery supports.
Experience managing state or federal grants, including preparing programmatic and financial reports, budgets, statement/scopes of work, and grant award modifications, as well as submitting reports via online platforms.
Experience providing consulting, training, and TA services.
Experience facilitating meetings and workshops of multidisciplinary groups and demonstrated experience and comfort with public speaking to large audiences
Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.
Ability to work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively, and to handle multiple tasks in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with diverse partners, including those at all levels of government (e.g., local, state, and federal) and from a variety of fields (e.g., research, practitioner, policy, advocates, community, elected, and people with lived-experience).
Ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively across different audiences, including reports
and correspondences.
Ability to articulate and attend to big picture issues and operationalize complex topics in justice and health while managing detailed, day-to-day operations.
Strong competency in technology, including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe, Zoom, and Google business products, and experience using project management softwares (e.g., Monday.com).

The agency currently offers hybrid work schedules that combines in-office and remote work. Employees are required to report to the work site three days per week with the option to work up to two days remotely.
