Empower RF Systems designs and manufactures high-power solid-state RF and microwave amplifiers for a wide range of applications, including electronic warfare, radar, satellite uplinks, communications, and product testing. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) Troubleshooting Technician to join our team specializing in broadband high-power RF and microwave amplifier systems and modules.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in RF technology and demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Diagnostic and Repair
Perform comprehensive diagnostics on returned RF and microwave solid state power amplifier systems and specify repairs to be made
Troubleshoot digital, analog and RF down to the component level for modules, air cooled and liquid cooled solid state amplifier systems
Conduct thorough functional tests to ensure proper operation of repaired units
Update firmware configurations and perform necessary calibrations on repaired equipment
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of all RMA activities, including fault analysis and repair procedures
Provide clear, concise reports on common failure modes and trends to engineering and management
Document and update repair procedures to improve efficiency and knowledge sharing
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement product improvements based on RMA findings
Customer Support
Communicate effectively with customers to gather additional information on reported issues
Provide pre and post sales customer technical support
Provide technical guidance to customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, RF Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing RF and microwave systems
Proven track record in high-power amplifier repair and maintenance is ideal
Technical Skills
In-depth knowledge of RF and microwave principles, including combining, HF to X band
Proficiency in using specialized test equipment - spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters
Experience with high-power solid state RF amplifier technologies
Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, technical drawings, and engineering specifications
Additional Requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site customer support (up to 10% travel may be required)
Physical ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Pay Range $28 - $36/hour, depending upon skill and experience.
