The Manager, Inclusion Diversity Equity & Engagement (IDE&E) Communications plays a key role in using a multi-channel communications strategy to execute our IDE&E agenda, achieve our 2030+ goals, and communicate progress both internally and externally in collaboration with the Corporate Communications team. This role will report directly to the Vice President of IDE&E with dotted line reporting into Corporate Communications.


The successful candidate will implement and execute communication strategies and tactics that will drive leadership impact, associate sentiment, and overall organizational adoption. This leader will be a talented storyteller and self-driven professional with a growth mindset who has a passion for communications, believes that excellence is essential, and seeks to elevate the performance of the organization and those they partner with.

Responsibilities



  • The execution and management of a multi-channel communication strategy (Intranet, BD website, blog posts, social media, etc.) that activates organizational alignment and maximizes the speed of internal and external adoption of our cultural transformation globally. Excellence will be demonstrated by successfully driving adoption and talent outcomes.

  • Write and create content across a number of channels, both long and short form pieces that are clear, simple and engaging in order to drive readership and adoption. This includes web content, blogs, intranet articles, event agendas and announcements, video scripts, leader talking points as well as social posts.

  • Must be able to align ID&E communications plans and tactics with Corporate Communications to ensure consistency of message with broader company goals and to also ensure appropriate level of detail, timing and tone vis a vis other corporate plans. Corporate Communications is a key stakeholder for this role as part of enterprise initiatives to drive understanding of progress against BD 2030+ plans. The incumbent will have demonstrated experience creating communication plans in conjunction with advice and counsel from the corporate team.

  • Use stories from throughout the organization that serve as proof points in transforming our culture, including key cultural focus areas and how we work together to deliver the greatest impact. Create and maintain a library of supporting content for communications including proof points, success stories, imagery, and toolkits.

  • Oversee communications practices and content for the Associate Resource Groups. This includes training and coaching communications leads and will at times include project management for ARG events, stakeholder management, and/or content development. This role will also support defining the remit of the ARGs as it relates to communications and ensuring clear guidelines around the role of the groups in programming and communications to their members. The incumbent will in turn be responsible for connecting ARG input, plans and content to the Corporate Communications team for consideration in broader corporate initiatives. Will also demonstrate good judgement, the ability to see the bigger picture and bring forward best practices in communications.






Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years experience in a professional public relations or communications role with demonstrated experience in internal and external communications, and content strategy. An advanced degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing is a plus.

  • Experience in a publicly traded company and/or regulated industry preferred.

  • The ability to implement and execute tactically is required.

  • Intuition and ability to ask smart questions and connect the dots across various initiatives and teams. Ability to see the big picture and also dive into the details.

  • Must have a passion for and demonstrated experience to write compelling internal and external communications/narratives that drive engagement. Should have experience in writing and creating long- and short-form content across a number of channels that is clear, simple and engaging.

  • Demonstrated mastery in modern communications channels and tactics such as social and digital media, intranet, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft 360 platforms including Sharepoint, Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, and other associated 360 applications used in internal communications.

  • Experience effectively working across a global matrixed organization and managing a variety of stakeholders and audiences. Executive presence - demonstrated ability to work with high level leaders.

  • Excellent customer service orientation, flexible attitude and adaptable to change.

  • Strong commitment to excellence with an ability to thrive under tight deadlines and multi-task to prioritize projects and communicate priorities to stakeholders. Results oriented with an ability to implement and execute measurable results.

  • Ability to maintain discretion and appropriately manage confidential information.
